Tickets

Tickets for bookings will be mailed out  five days before the trip date.  Tickets for bookings received on, or after, the mailing date will be available from the train at Newport Workshop Gardens Platform approximately 30 minutes prior to departure of the train or from the on board Cafe Hudson if boarding at another station.

Optional Side Trips

Optional side trips or access to local attractions may be available in conjunction with some Vintage Rail Travel trips.

Fares

  • Concessions are available for adults who are entitled to concession fares on public transport in Victoria (including holders of a Seniors Card)
  • Children aged from 5 to 15 years are carried at a reduced fare. Children under 5 years are carried FOC
  • Family tickets are available for some trips covering two adults and up to three children under 16 years. Please enter the actual number of passengers in each category on booking form. This required for seat allocation purposes. The on-line booking form will automatically compare the cost of both individual and family tickets and show the lower price
  • Hire a compartment (maximum eight passengers) for your own exclusive use. A limited number of compartments are available for the cost of five full price adult tickets.
  • "Hudson Gold Class". On selected trips the train will include ex-Overland sleeper carriage "Kuldalai". Cabins have been restored to a high standard and seat a maximum of three passengers. The carriage has a dedicated steward who will serve limited refreshments during both the outbound and return journeys

Newport Workshops Gardens Platform

707 Operations trains depart from Newport Workshops Gardens Platform (Melway map 55 J6). It is a short 20 minute drive from the CBD (and 10 minutes from the Westgate Freeway off ramps). Entrance is from Champion Road and is indicated by a steam train board sign. There is ample free on-site parking.

For wheelchair access to the train ask a Vintage Rail Travel marshall on the platform for assistance.
