Taste of the Goulburn Festival by Steam

On Saturday 19 October you are invited to enjoy a day trip to Seymour aboard Vintage Rail Travel/707 Operations' restored vintage steam locomotive R707 'City of Melbourne'. The trip coincides with Seymour's Tastes of the Goulburn Festival, which celebrates the finest food and wine from one of Victoria's best-kept secrets - the Goulburn Valley. Book tickets here.

Throughout the day, there will be much to see, do and explore - from regional entertainment to sampling local wines and tasting gourmet treats and fun kids activities all day!

This is the sixth annual heritage steam train to Seymour from Melbourne for the Tastes of the Goulburn Festival. The historic steam train will depart Newport in Melbourne's West at 6.40 am, then ventures into Southern Cross Station in the heart of Melbourne with a 7.25 am departure also picking up passengers at Essendon (7.40 am) and Craigieburn (8.00 am) before tackling the steep grades of the Great Dividing Range to Seymour. It will arrive in Seymour at 9.10 am, with the festival right at your doorstep.

Passengers will have over 4 hours to explore Seymour's Tastes of the Goulburn Festival and its many attractions before returning to Melbourne. Held in Station Street, the event celebrates the many wonderful attributes of the Goulburn Valley. Music will be provided by a variety of bands and there will be entertainment for the kids and adults can sample local gourmet food and wine. Entry for passengers is free and $15 for a sampling glass. Compartment Carriage Lounge Carriage

The train features an air-conditioned saloon and compartment carriages, dating from the 1940s as well as Hudsons Cafe serving espresso coffee, Devonshire teas and assorted cakes and snacks. The train also includes the popular "art deco" lounge bar "708" carriage and Club Car Victoria. The carriage is licensed, offering a full bar service with a selection of ales, wine, sparkling and mixed spirits.

Sitting carriages can also be booked exclusively for your personal use of an entire compartment, the perfect travel option for your group (up to 8 adults).

The train departs Seymour at 2.05 pm, returning to Melbourne, stopping at Craigieburn at 3.10 pm, Essendon at 3.40 pm, Southern Cross at 3.50 pm and finally Newport by 4.30 pm.
