Steam over the Skyrail to Sale - Saturday 23 June

Join 707 Operations as we venture along the main Eastern line from Melbourne to Sale and return on Saturday 23 June 2018 - with our steam locomotive R707 along with our heritage diesel locomotives T413 and H5. Book your tickets here.

See parts of Melbourne that you have never seen before, as our excursion train becomes the very first steam hauled train to travel over the new skyrail between Caulfield and Dandenong.

At Sale, we will have two and a half hours to explore the township and enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants or pubs which are only a short walk from the V/Line station. Before re-boarding the train at 3.30 pm for a return to Melbourne.

The train features our 1950's open saloon and compartment carriages, as well as our open windowed Edwardian sleeper Wando and lounge carriages Victoria and BK708 for the trip. In addition, our all inclusive First-Class travel option in steel sleeping converted to day sitting carriages offers different unique travel options for a family friendly day out.

Our heritage train features:

The train will be running a steam-hauled train to Sale on Saturday 23 June, departing from Melbourne's Southern Cross Station at 7.35 am and Flinders Street Station at 7.40 am. Suburban pick up points include stops at at Dandenong (8.21 am) and Pakenham (8.48 am) and passing through Warragul at 9.45 am. Our train will pause for our engine to take water at Traralgon and once it is re-attached to our train we will continue to arrive into Sale at 12.50 pm.

Spend two and a half hours exploring Sale with its cafes, the Gippsland Art Gallery, Lake Guthridge and Flood Creeks foreshores and historic port a short walk from Sale Station.

With a 3.30 pm departure from Sale, we will return through Traralgon, Warragul, before stopping at Pakenham (6.38 pm) and Dandenong (7.03 pm) and back into Melbourne's Flinders Street and Southern Cross Stations around 7.50 pm.
